What People Say

Most Liked

The cheeseburgers at Salem Dairy Bar consistently steal the spotlight, with many claiming them to be some of the best in Arkansas. Diners rave about the flavor and freshness that come with each bite. The onion rings, while noted for their size, are often lauded for their tasty batter, reminiscent of funnel cakes. The variety of shakes and malts is a highlight in the dessert category, particularly on hot summer days—perfect for cooling down. The inviting atmosphere enhances the dining experience, with plenty of seating options available, both inside and out, allowing everyone to soak in the laid-back vibe. Free drink refills are a nice touch and enhance the overall value.

Most Disliked

Some visitors have shared mixed feelings about the size of the onion rings, noting that the middle can sometimes be a bit too doughy for their liking. While many find the flavor irresistible, others recommend ordering them as a side to taste the batter. A few diners have mentioned that the burgers could benefit from extra condiments, particularly mayo and pickles, highlighting personal preferences that might not be fully accommodated. Limited indoor seating can lead to longer wait times during peak hours, especially on Saturdays when the popularity surges. Though the family-friendly atmosphere is a major draw, it can become crowded during busy dinner times.

Great food, staff was super helpful! I wasn't a super big fan of the onion rings because they were so big the middle was a little doughy but the batter was delicious. I would order just the fried batter (tasted like a funnel cake 🤔). I ordered the protein plate. There are so many options and I love that yall have daily dinner specials!

I would really rate 4.5, but that’s not an option. We had reg double cheeseburgers and Cajun fries. The flavor of the burger and portion of beef was great. It could of had more mayo and pickles. If you like pickles on burger I would order it with extra pickle. Cajun fries were ok.

If you are looking for a cute little old fashioned dairy bar, this is your sign. Nostalgia wrapped in white paper that gives you the krinkle sound like you remember as a child, handed to you in a white paper bag by a friendly smile. Just like the good one days 🙂

I’ve heard about this Dairy Bar for a number of years, actually had a chance to try it out. NOT DISAPPOINTED, possibly the Cheeseburger in the state of Arkansas. Superior service, for an older establishment very well maintained and clean. Food is always cooked fresh so it’s super fast service, but that’s how it should be done. Will definitely return. Take out only, no dinning room.

My husband grew up visiting Salem Dairy Bar since 1976. When he took me home to AK from VA to see where he grew up of course this was our first stop!

The old school 1950s-60s type drive up dairy bars. That are so hard to find anymore nowadays. They make some of the best food, ice cream and malts you'll ever eat or drink. I just wish there was more of them.
